General Medicine

The department of General Medicine is concerned with illness prevention, diagnosis, and non-surgical treatment. When a patient attends the hospital, it is the initial point of contact. A general physician examines the patient and then prescribes the required tests and diagnostic treatments. The findings of these tests, as well as the results of the general physical examination and symptoms, are then linked to arrive at a final diagnosis. Depending on the final diagnosis, the general physician either provides the patient with the appropriate therapy (typically medicine) or sends the patient to a speciality department for further treatment.
